Abstract
This study investigates the impact of play-based learning approaches on the social-emotional development of young children aged 4-6 years. Employing a quasi-experimental design, two groups of children (n=60) were observed over a period of six months. The experimental group participated in a curriculum enriched with play-based activities, while the control group followed a more traditional instructional approach. Data on social-emotional skills, including empathy, cooperation, and self-regulation, were collected through observational checklists and teacher reports. The findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in the social-emotional development of children in the play-based learning group compared to the control group. These results suggest that integrating play-based learning into early childhood education can positively influence children's social competence and emotional well-being. The implications of these findings highlight the importance of promoting play as a valuable pedagogical strategy in early childhood settings.
